Gas Prices Revised Upward

After declining slightly, California’s retail gasoline prices leveled off late this week, according to revised federal figures. Government figures reported in Friday’s Business section said the average statewide price for unleaded self-serve regular had fallen 1.8 cents a gallon Thursday. But the government on Friday revised the figure and said prices actually rose 0.2 cent. Prices on Friday fell by the same amount, to $1.540 a gallon. There was no explanation for the change. Separately, wholesale prices fell another 2.1 cents on Thursday to 95.5 cents a gallon, down about 10 cents since April 30, the California Energy Commission said.
