BUENA PARK — A man was stabbed during a dispute among friends and left to die early Friday morning, Buena Park police said.
Luis R. Ronquillo, 30, who had been visiting a woman with three other friends at the Viking Apartments in the 7300 block of 9th Street, was found lying in a puddle of blood on the woman’s second-floor balcony, police said.
Barely alive, Ronquillo was taken to West Anaheim Medical Center at about 4:30 a.m. for treatment of a deep wound to his chest.
He was pronounced dead at 5:15 a.m, hospital officials said.
Ronquillo’s companions and the woman were not at the scene when police arrived, said Buena Park Police Sgt. Lloyd Schwengel. “We’re looking for them,” the spokesman said. “We still don’t know who is responsible.”
According to Sgt. Schwengel, Ronquillo and his friends showed up separately at the apartment at about 3 a.m. and began arguing a short time later.
Neighbors told police that Ronquillo, a known gang member who was on parole after serving two years in state prison for grand theft of a car, had been walking through the apartment complex yelling obscenities, apparently drunk.
There was a scuffle and some shouts inside the apartment, neighbors said, then silence.
One resident phoned the police after seeing Ronquillo sprawled across the balcony floor next to several beer cans.
