Camarillo Firm to Help Build Brazil Satellite System
- Share via
ACT Networks of Camarillo has signed an agreement with COMSAT International Ventures to help build private satellite networks for corporations in Brazil.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Brazil-based COMSAT will use ACT’s frame-relay access products to build the networks. The first major network will connect 70 airports and the headquarters of a major commercial airline in Sao Paulo.
COMSAT also has placed two additional orders worth in excess of $500,000, ACT officials said. Equipment from these orders will be used to support intra-network and data applications for a large number of end users.
“The telecommunications market in Brazil is the largest in Latin America,” said Martin Shum, ACT president and chief executive officer. “We are optimistic that through this partnership, ACT will develop a substantial presence in this major market.”
