Hiring Center Seeking Employees for New Shopping Complex

Tenants of a shopping center set to open next month in Long Beach are directing potential employees to a new city-operated hiring center.
Open since Sept. 3, the Los Altos Hiring Center offers job referrals and on-site interviews to anyone wishing to apply for work at the soon-to-be-renovated Los Altos Shopping Center on Bellflower Boulevard in eastern Long Beach.
A representative for the hiring center said Monday that more than 700 positions are still open at several stores, including Sears, CompUSA and Bristol Farms.
The job center is expected to remain open until early next year, or until the shopping center has filled all available positions.
The hiring center is located at 5555 Stearns St., Suite 206, and is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, except Tuesday, when it closes at 6 p.m.
