Mary Star 34, Oak Park 7--The Eagles (0-3) were held scoreless until the fourth quarter in a nonleague game at Daniels Field in San Pedro.
Jeff Roberts caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Marquez Massengale to avoid a shutout for Oak Park.
Mary Star is 1-2.
Village Christian 21, Kern Valley 20--The Crusaders (3-0) blocked an extra-point attempt with four minutes remaining to preserve a nonleague victory at Kern Valley.
Quarterback Jeff Johnston’s second one-yard touchdown sneak of the game and the point-after by Matt Ryburn gave the Crusaders a 21-14 lead midway through the fourth quarter.
Mike Malloy of Village Christian scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter to break a 7-7 tie, and Aaron Funk rushed for 92 yards in 19 carries for the Crusaders.
EIGHT-MAN
Faith Baptist 36, Maricopa 6--Tim Greer passed for 126 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown for Faith Baptist (4-0) in a nonleague victory over visiting Maricopa (1-1).
The Contenders also got a big game from fullback-safety David Arellano, who rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns and had two interceptions.
Faith Baptist tight end Steve Plise had five catches for 72 yards and a touchdown and recovered a fumble.
Viewpoint 42, Price Christian 20--J.R. Sichel completed 18 of 24 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, ran for two touchdowns and scored on a fumble return for the Patriots (2-0) in a nonleague game at Manual Arts High.
Sichel snapped a 14-14 tie with two short touchdown runs in the second quarter. He added a 40-yard scoring fumble return in the fourth quarter.
Running back Sherwin Shilati caught four passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.
Price Christian fell to 0-2.
