The body of a 46-year-old man shot to death in Lancaster was found Wednesday by his children arriving home from school, authorities said.
The man was found about 2:40 p.m. in a residence in the 3300 block of Avenue J-4.
The unidentified man had been home with his 3-year-old child, who was unharmed, said Sgt. Richard Dinsmoor, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
When the children came home, “they found him lying on the floor and apparently he had some blood on his shirt,” Dinsmoor said. They called deputies from a neighbor’s house, he said.
The man had been shot once in the upper body, according to authorities.
Homicide investigators remained at the scene late Wednesday, Stoneman said.
