Duck update--Their hot streak has been cooled by two one-goal losses in a row, including Friday’s 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers. The Ducks lost to Phoenix, 2-1, on Monday in Anaheim. Since scoring seven goals against Calgary on Dec. 20, they have combined for only three over their last two games. The Ducks have the NHL’s second-worst road record at 3-8-3.
Devil update--New Jersey has one of the best records in the Eastern Conference but its seven-game unbeaten streak came to an end Thursday in a 4-1 loss to the Islanders. Defense has been the Devils’ mainstay. They’ve given up only 2.4 goals a game, and Martin Brodeur is fourth in the NHL with a 2.08 goals-against average. Left wing Dave Andreychuk and center Bobby Holik lead the Devils in scoring with 25 points each.
