In other West Coast Conference games:
Hakeem Ward’s free throw with two seconds to play allowed San Francisco (8-8, 3-1) to defeat Gonzaga, 71-70, at San Francisco. Gonzaga fell to 9-7, 2-2. . . . St. Mary’s (12-5, 2-2) built a 19-point first-half lead and then held off Santa Clara (8-8, 2-2) for an 80-73 victory at Moraga, Calif. . . . Brian Bruso scored a career-high 26 points for San Diego (10-6, 2-2) in a 91-76 victory over Portland (6-10, 1-3) at San Diego. The Toreros shot a season-high 62% (31 for 50).
BIG WEST CONFERENCE
Pacific 74, Long Beach State 57--The 49ers (5-9, 1-3) lost for the eighth time in 10 games at Stockton and fell into fifth place in the six-team Western Division.
Guard Brandon Titus led Long Beach with 13 points. Swingman James Cotton was limited to 11 points, missing 11 of 13 shots.
Pacific (13-1, 4-0) got 14 points from reserve guard Tim Bowman.
Cal State Fullerton 82, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 77--The Titans (9-5, 2-2) shot 54% and got a career-high 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting from forward John Williams at San Luis Obispo.
Fullerton made 21 of 33 free throws, compared to 12 of 20 for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (9-7, 3-1). Also the Mustangs, who thrive on three-point shooting, made their first four from long range, then missed 17 of their next 20.
UC Santa Barbara 56, UC Irvine 55--Anthony Delacruz’s 17-foot baseline jumper at the buzzerfell short as the Anteaters (0-14, 0-4) lost at Goleta.
Raymond Tutt had 21 to lead San Barbara (7-7, 2-2). Irvine’s LaMarr Parker had 17.
Marcus Saxon scored the last 10 points of the game for Utah State (12-4, 5-0) as the Aggiesmanaged a 71-68 victory over New Mexico State (7-7, 1-3) at Logan, Utah. Saxon finished with21 points.
