Medical breakthroughs abound since the first quintuplets--the Dionne babies--were born in 1934. In the last decade, 46 sets of quints were born in the U.S. . . . Since 1980, there have been five sets born in California, including the Quezadas of West Hills (B1).

Wash Wars?
Lines of vehicles at carwashes this weekend were reminiscent of the ‘70s gas shortages. But the main cause was pent-up demand from folks who had been waiting for the rain to stop to spiff up their cars. Workers also had drifted away, idled by the rain. . . . But Harvey Kampf, manager of Cruisers in Northridge, was not complaining. “We’re just smiling from ear to ear.”
