NORTHRIDGE — Los Angeles police detectives released a composite sketch Monday of the man believed to have ambushed and killed Pedro Banegas, security director at the Park Parthenia Apartments in Northridge.
West Valley LAPD Det. Rick Swanston said no suspects have yet been identified but that detectives are looking into whether Thursday night’s shooting was a retaliation for Banegas’ anti-gang activities.
Police met again Monday with Banegas’ wife, who was with her husband when he was attacked, sitting in their pickup truck after an English class at Reseda High School. A gunman crept along the parked cars and fired a shot at Banegas, police said. The couple fled but the gunman caught up with Banegas and fired into his back and chest, killing the 42-year-old Honduran immigrant, police said.
