Pat’s Other Sins

Pat Boone should be credited for crafting an enormous joke that also possesses fine subtlety, sufficient to have eluded Robert Hilburn and other critics (“Trinity Network Reaction Is Just Too Pat,” Feb. 21).
The joke is this: Boone’s “In a Metal Mood” recordings are no more and no less absurdly inappropriate than his ‘50s covers of artists such as Little Richard and others.
Boone should be credited for his “mea culpa.” This is an apology, or at least an acknowledgment, of his cultureless crimes against humanity.
