Postal Rally Will Address Dog Attacks

Mail carriers from across the county will hold a rally Sunday to encourage people to be responsible pet owners and help avoid vicious dog attacks.
More than 150 postal employees, their families and dogs are expected to turn out for the rally, scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Picnic Pavilion of Garden Grove Park, between Brookhurst Street and Magnolia Avenue on Westminster Avenue.
The Orange County Dog Walk will include several postal services employees who have been victims of dog bites, including a Huntington Beach carrier permanently disabled by a bite.
Letter carriers suffered from more than 2,000 dog bites nationally last year, and the rally is intended to draw attention to the injuries, said Terri Bouffiou of the U.S. Postal Service.
