No TV: About 12,000 San Fernando Valley folks joined 4 million people nationwide participating in the third annual National TV-Turnoff Week, which ends today, said a spokesman for TV-Free America. . . . Literature was sent to parents “encouraging them to develop better study habits with their children, like read a book,” said Marvin Jacobson, director of the private Laurence 2000 School in Van Nuys.
No Peanuts: Nine California condors flew first-class out of Burbank Airport on Tuesday. A twin-engine cargo plane owned by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management was summoned from Idaho to transport the birds to their new river-view aeries in the Arizona cliffs of the Grand Canyon. . . . An L.A. Zoo curator said the birds snacked on “in-flight mice hors d’oeuvres.”
Busted: It’s off to the shelter for this feline and 44 others that were discovered Tuesday in a Tarzana home (B1). City rules allow three without a permit. . . . Neighbors said the owner has been less than friendly for years. Also seized: three dogs and a pigeon.
