Judge Dismisses Fox Claims in Dispute

Associated Press

A judge dismissed Fox News Network’s charges accusing Time Warner of committing fraud in its negotiations to carry the news channel on its cable systems. U.S. District Court Judge Jack Weinstein in Brooklyn, N.Y., said Fox should have known that verbal assurances that an agreement had been reached were insufficient, even when New York-based Time Warner said that “all the details are set.” The judge also ordered that Fox’s antitrust claims and counterclaims by Time Warner be moved to federal court in Manhattan, where that court already is considering whether Time Warner could be forced to carry Rupert Murdoch’s Fox network on the city’s cable channels. Calls to lawyers for all sides were not immediately returned.
