MTI Technology Back in Black

ANAHEIM — MTI Technology Corp., a provider of computer storage solutions, reported net income of $5.7 million, or 21 cents a share, for fiscal 1997, contrasted with a net loss of $49.2 million, or $2.54 a share, for the previous year. Revenue for the year ended April 5 rose 17% to $153.7 million from $131.9 million.

Fourth-quarter net income totaled $2.2 million, or 8 cents a share. That contrasts with a net loss of $38.3 million, or $1.97 a share, for the same quarter last year, which included $21.5 million in nonrecurring charges. Revenue advanced 46% to a record $42.1 million from $28.9 million.
