West Point Cadet Quits as Rape Charges Probed

Associated Press

A West Point cadet whose allegations of rape were deemed unfounded and who faced expulsion for lying resigned on Tuesday.

“She is out as of this evening,” said Alen Beerman, the lawyer for Su Jin Collier. Collier, 19, who was in her second year at the U.S. Military Academy, will return June 6 to take a polygraph test given by the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, which is reviewing the case, Beerman said.

“For her own sanity at this point, she could not wait for a determination on whether she would be vindicated,” Beerman said.
