Braille Institute to Hold Open House

Without volunteers, the Los Angeles chapter of the Braille Institute could survive, “but it would be so very, very difficult,” said Carlye Rudkin, director of volunteer services at the East Hollywood facility.
So in an effort to increase volunteer membership, the Braille Institute will hold an open house today at 9 a.m. for people who want to help the blind or visually impaired. The open house, at 741 N. Vermont Ave., is intended to familiarize the public with several leading types of volunteer activities that the center offers, Rudkin said.
Anyone interested in volunteering may call Rudkin at (213) 663-1111.
