Man, Woman of Year Named by Chamber

The Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of its 1997 awards for man and woman of the year.
Brenda J. Gorman was named Woman of the Year for her commitment to community service.
Gorman has served on the board of directors of Casa Youth Shelter for 10 years. She also volunteers for girls’ youth sport programs, including softball, soccer and basketball, and is active in the Parent-Teacher Assn. in Los Alamitos Unified School District.
Thomas W. Stretz was named Man of the Year. He was chosen for his role as executive director of Los Alamitos Youth Center.
Stretz is also active in the Los Alamitos Rotary Club. Each year, he helps Los Alamitos High School with grad night.
Both residents received proclamations from the City Council this week for their achievements.
