Robber Says He Stole to Pay Prior Victims

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was charged in a series of Monday bank robberies that police said enabled him to make court-ordered restitution payments due the next day.
Tipsters led police to Donald Lewis Dingerson, who was charged Friday with 11 counts of bank robbery, the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reported Saturday.
Sheriff’s Detective Jim Young said police were puzzled as to why most of the robberies occurred on Mondays. Dingerson confessed to the robberies, explaining that he was scheduled to meet his parole officer on Tuesdays to make restitution payments to his victims in previous criminal cases, the newspaper said.
When police caught up with him Friday, he was already in jail on charges of violating his probation by failing to make a restitution payment.
