San Jose-based Adobe Systems Inc. reported second-quarter profit that fell below expectations as sales for computers running on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows surpassed Apple Computer Inc. Macintosh sales for the first time. The software maker said net income rose to $40.1 million, or 54 cents a share, from $22 million, or 29 cents, in the year-earlier period. . . .
