American Home Health Hospice, a local nonprofit organization that serves terminally ill people and their families, is recruiting volunteers.
Those interested in donating time to comfort dying people are asked to attend a five-week training class that will be offered on Wednesdays beginning July 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the hospice office.
The training sessions will include an overview of the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the dying process. Participants will learn communication and listening skills and a certificate will be awarded to those who complete the training.
The office is at 1950 E. 17th St. Information: (800) 540-2545.
