IRVINE — Premier Laser Systems Inc. said it has received orders worth about $2.3 million for its recently approved laser for treating tooth decay in adults, and plans to step up production.
The Centauri laser, which the company hopes will take the pain out of dentistry, received Food and Drug Administration approval last month for removing tooth decay and preparing a cavity for filling. The company’s stock surged in the wake of the FDA decision.
Premier Laser said it will have to increase production to 100 systems per month by the end of the year to help meet demand.
Until then, Premier Laser said it will continue to ship on a first-come, first-served basis.
