Four young men were arrested and a fifth was in the hospital in fair condition Monday after an early morning shooting in west Ventura.
Luis Antonio Solis, 19, was shot by two men and hit in both legs about 1:30 a.m. while walking on the sidewalk on Ventura Avenue near East Lewis Street, said Sgt. George Morris of the Ventura Police Department’s major crimes division.
The wounded Solis was able to run to a nearby home to call police. His alleged assailants ran to a car and sped away, Morris said.
They were stopped across town soon after the shooting, riding in a Datsun 300ZX with its lights off, he said.
Arrested were Larry Barkely, 23, of Oxnard; Michael Waites, 18, of Ventura; and two juveniles. The juveniles were released to their parents while Barkely and Waites were booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, Morris said.
Solis was at Ventura County Medical Center in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
