Foundation Taking Grant Applications

The Ventura County Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for nonprofit agencies working toward improving conditions for Latinos.

Committee members of this year’s Destino 2000: Hispanic Legacy Fund Grants are looking mainly to help programs that offer education and training for young people up to 18, said Al Guilin, a founder of the fund.

“Programs that address leadership development, career and job training or counseling or computer training are especially encouraged to apply,” he said.

Eligible applicant agencies--either federal or nonfederal--must be not-for-profit, community-based organizations.

The deadline for grant proposals is Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. at the Ventura County Community Foundation, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 150, Camarillo, 93010.

Grants, which will range up to $8,000, will begin in November and cover up to 12 months. The committee plans to award at least one grant for $2,000 or less.
