Kusske Named Chief of UCI Neurosurgery

Dr. John A. Kusske has been named chief of neurosurgery service at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Kusske, whose neurosurgery expertise ranges from pituitary disorders to epilepsy, recently completed a term as president of the California Assn. of Neurological Surgeons.

“The appointment of such a highly skilled and well-respected neurosurgeon as John Kusske is a key part of the improvements we are making in the UCI College of Medicine’s neurosurgery department,” Thomas C. Cesario, dean of UCI’s College of Medicine, said.

Kusske comes to UCI from Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills, where he had been an attending neurosurgeon since 1985. From 1972 to 1985, he was on the neurosurgery staff at UCI Medical Center and at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach. He had served on the UCI College of Medicine’s volunteer faculty as a clinical professor of surgery since 1985.
