Spotlight: First Data to Handle All Wells Fargo Cards

First Data Corp. said it signed a 10-year agreement to process all credit and debit card accounts for Wells Fargo & Co. Terms were not disclosed. Wells will shift 2 million credit card accounts it now processes itself to First Data. The San Francisco-based bank will cut 24 jobs in the second half of 1998, when the change takes place, Wells said. Hackensack, N.J.-based First Data already handles 1.4 million of Wells’ credit card accounts and all of the bank’s 3.5 million debit card accounts.
