Ruth C. Katterman; Former Teacher’s Aide

Ruth C. Katterman, a 12-year resident of Ventura and a former teacher’s aide, died Sunday following a brief illness. She was 68.
Katterman was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Dover, N.J. A 1950 graduate of Douglass College in New Jersey, she made a career in education.
Most recently, she worked as a teacher’s aide at Poinsettia Elementary School in Ventura.
Katterman is survived by her mother, H. Ruth Carlson of Ventura; daughters Marcey Katterman of Greensboro, N.C.; Judith K. Murphy of Pasadena; and Amy K. Volz of Spotsylvania, Va.; sons David and Robert of Asheville, N.C.; brother Robert Carlson of Ventura, and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura, with the Rev. Faye Hogan of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Ventura officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
