Hogarth Beaten in Third Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Defending champion Tim Hogarth of Chatsworth lost his third-round match Thursday afternoon at the U.S. Public Links championship at Kearney Hill Golf Links.
Hogarth was defeated 1 up by Grady Girard of Newport, Vt., in the afternoon. In a second-round match earlier in the day, Hogarth beat Bobby Delagrange of Carmel, Ind., 2 up.
Trip Kuehne of Dallas advanced to the quarterfinals by winning two close matches.
Joining Kuehne in today’s quarterfinals are Girard, Joe Stansberry, Minneapolis; Chris Bedore, Richmond, Ky.; Tim Clark, Raleigh, N.C.; Danny Luirette, Aurora, Colo.; Ryuji Imada, Tampa, Fla.; and Roger Tambellini, Templeton, Calif.
