Los Alamitos Handles El Dorado in Water Polo

Tyler Wawrzynski and David Kong each scored three goals to help Los Alamitos, the top-ranked team in Orange County, defeat El Dorado, 9-2, in nonleague boys’ water polo Friday at El Dorado High.
Los Alamitos, also top ranked in the Southern Section Division II poll, improved to 20-4.
El Dorado (13-12) won the Division II championship last season.
In other nonleague games:
No. 8 Villa Park 15, Trabuco Hills 7--Kyle Baumgarner had six goals and Nick Pacelli had five for host Villa Park (17-8). Baumgarner played goalkeeper in the third quarter, recording two saves and two assists.
Katella 10, La Habra 9--Jeremy Janton scored four goals for Katella (14-7), ranked 10th in Division II. La Habra (14-6) is ranked eighth in Division II.
Canyon 10, Sonora 6--Tim Gabriel scored four goals and goalkeeper Eddie Colson had 12 saves for the Comanches (12-10).
In the Orange League:
Brea Olinda 14, Western 4--Matt Flesher scored three of his six goals in the third quarter for host Brea Olinda (14-7, 7-0), which scored five goals in the quarter to take an 11-3 lead.
In Sunset League girls’ cross-country:
No. 1 Esperanza 18, Huntington Beach 45--Pam Smith finished first in a time of 17 minutes 49 seconds over the three-mile course at Central Park East for top-ranked Esperanza (5-0).
In nonleague water polo:
Huntington Beach 12, Valencia 5--Brian McConnell and John Elser each scored four goals for Huntington Beach (12-11).
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
No. 2 Dana Hills 16, Mission Viejo 2--Brooke Calton (6-1, 6-0, 6-0), Isis Jackson (6-2, 6-1, 6-0) and Chelsey Thompson (6-0, 6-0, 6-0) swept their singles sets for host Dana Hills (18-1, 9-0).
No. 8 Capistrano Valley 17, San Clemente 1--Leigh Ann Merryman swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to improve to 37-8 for host Capistrano Valley (12-6, 5-4).
In Golden West League girls’ volleyball:
Rosary 3, Saddleback 0--Alissa Sullivan had 10 kills and Emily Mackprang had 27 assists and three aces in the 15-1, 15-7, 15-12 victory for Rosary (11-3, 7-1).
