Poly 35, Monroe 33--Steve Smith rushed for 267 yards in 30 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Parrots (3-6, 3-3) at Poly.
On Monroe’s final possession, quarterback Diego Barba completed a pass to Omar Stewart at the Viking 40, but Steward was stripped of the ball by Smith at the Poly five. The fumble was recovered by Poly’s David Valencia with 47 seconds to play.
Smith had touchdown runs of 18 and 74 yards in the third quarter, giving a Parrots a 35-27 lead. Smith scored on an 89-yard kickoff return in the second quarter.
George Garcia of Monroe (6-3, 3-3) rushed for 212 yards in 26 carries and ran for touchdowns of 36, nine, two and one yards in the fourth quarter.
