In a continuing effort to recruit members of the black community into the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles announced a scholarship for black men wanting to study at Xavier University in New Orleans before going on to a seminary.
The archdiocese set up the St. Charles Lwanga Los Angeles Vocations Scholarship for students who eventually plan to attend St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, Father Dick Martini said.
The scholarship covers tuition, room and board and insurance, he said, and will be given annually to black men pursuing a vocation in the priesthood for the archdiocese.
Interested applicants may call Martini at (213) 637-7248.
