Newport Harbor 15, Redlands 3--Kristen Case was the only singles player for fourth-seeded Newport Harbor (17-6) who swept her sets, winning, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.
Woodbridge 14, Simi Valley 4--Danielle Hustedt swept in singles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, to advance third-seeded Woodbridge (19-3) to the semifinals. The Warriors will travel to second-seeded Palos Verdes Peninsula. Peninsula defeated the Warriors, 10-8, this season.
In Division II:
Dana Hills 15, University 3--Amberly Tantee swept in singles, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, to lead top-seeded Dana Hills (22-1). The Dolphins will host Beverly Hills in Thursday’s semifinal. University finished 14-4.
Mater Dei 16, Arlington 2--The third-seeded Monarchs lost only one game in singles. Melissa Esmero started it off in No. 1 singles by winning, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Mater Dei is 15-5 and will play second-seeded Santa Barbara in the semifinals.
In Division III:
Troy 12, Laguna Hills 6--Troy, which suffered its only loss of the season to Laguna Hills, 11-7, got revenge by upsetting the fourth-seeded Hawks (16-7).
Irene Noguchi helped spark the turnaround for Troy (19-1). Noguchi lost all three singles matches in the first meeting, but won two of three in the quarterfinal match, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5. Lesley Wasser added a victory and the doubles team of Sarah Riley and Lori Judd swept, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5. Troy will play Harvard Westlake in the semifinals.
Villa Park 12, Brea Olinda 4 (darkness)--Arpi Kojian didn’t lose a game in singles, helping lead third-seeded Villa Park (17-2). The Spartans will face second-seeded Palm Desert in Thursday’s semifinals.
In Division IV:
West Hills Chaminade 11, Rosary 7--Despite Michelle Hamilton sweeping in singles, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, Rosary (16-5) lost to third-seeded Chaminade (13-6). The score was tied, 6-6, after the second round, but Chaminade won five of the six final sets.
In Division V:
Laguna Beach 18, San Jacinto 0--The second-seeded Artists easily swept San Jacinto, dropping only 10 games in singles. Kim Woodhouse didn’t lose a game in her sweep at No. 1 singles. Laguna Beach next plays Pasadena Poly.
