Royal Falls Short in I-A Semifinals

Second-seeded Royal High’s volleyball season came to an end Tuesday night when it blew a 14-10 lead in the third game after dropping the first two to third-seeded Marina in a Southern Section Division I-A semifinal match at Royal.
Courtney Guerra contributed 17 kills for the Highlanders (17-3) in the 15-11, 15-9, 16-14 defeat, while Sherisa Livingston had seven blocks and Teresa Russell had six blocks for Royal.
Lindsay Phillips had 19 kills and 11 digs for the Vikings (17-2), and Chanda McLeod contributed 17 kills and eight digs.
Marina will face top-seeded Mater Dei for the championship.
In other volleyball playoff matches:
Flintridge Sacred Heart d. Notre Dame Academy, 15-10, 15-12, 15-7--Danielle Dal Ponte had 20 kills, 13 digs and three aces for the Tologs (14-3) in the Division IV-AA semifinal at Notre Dame Academy.
Megan Hosp added 18 kills and 25 digs for Flintridge Sacred Heart (14-3).
St. Bonaventure d. L.A. Baptist, 15-13, 5-15, 15-9, 15-9--Kristen Jones had 20 kills and seven digs and Tomi Dombrowik added 13 kills and eight digs to lead the Seraphs (13-6) in a Division IV-A semifinal at L.A. Baptist.
Kristen Jensen had 24 kills and 10 digs for L.A. Baptist (16-3).
Bishop Montgomery def. La Canada, 15-2, 15-6, 15-12--Dana Coffey had 13 kills and Katie Oslovsky had 10 kills for the top-seeded Knights (23-6) in a Division III-A semifinal at Bishop Montgomery.
Fourth-seeded La Canada, which finished 16-2, never really got going as Bishop Montgomery jumped out to a 9-1 lead in the first and third games.
Emily Dalbeck had 19 kills and four blocks and Stephanie Tenerelli had nine kills and five blocks for La Canada.
