Irvin Serves Up Two Victories, Advances to the Round of 16

Top-seeded Marissa Irvin of Harvard-Westlake High had little trouble advancing to the round of 16 Saturday in the Southern Section Individual Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
The Stanford-bound Irvin, who had a bye in the first round, defeated Pacific League champion Michelle Greco of Crescenta Valley, 6-0, 6-1, and Channel League runner-up Yasmin Fisher of Buena, 6-2, 6-3.
Shervin Saedinia of Calabasas defeated Marmonte League champion Brook Borisoff of Agoura, 6-0, 6-2, in another third-round match to reach the round of 16, which will be played Dec. 4 in Irvine.
Sarita Pouzanoff of St. Bonaventure lost to Olivia Garcia-McKeon of Brentwood, 6-2, 7-5, in the third round.
Harvard-Westlake’s Mission League-champion team of Stephanie Berg and Lindsay Forbess fell to Margo O’Donnell and Rebecca Hanau of Simi Valley, 6-4, 6-4, in the third round.
O’Donnell and Hanau, the Marmonte League champions, earlier defeated Jammie Ngo and Thao Nguyen of Northview, 6-0, 6-0, and Calabasas’ No. 2 team of Kathy Habuk and Vanessa Everly, 6-3, 6-4.
Calabasas’ No. 1 team of Brittany Bierman and Andrea Leewong had a first-round bye before defeating Los Padres League champions Niki Tank and Shannon Flynn of Santa Maria St. Joseph, 6-3, 6-3, and Camarillo’s Bettina Rettenmaier and Lauren Gaona, 6-0, 6-4.
