The city has agreed to contribute $5,000 and be a co-sponsor of the Anaheim Nutcracker Holiday festival Dec. 5-7 downtown.
City officials cited the citywide significance of the event in approving the request for sponsorship and funding from the Nutcracker Holiday Committee.
The festival, which includes a tree-lighting ceremony, drew more than 1,000 people last year.
Activities this year include horse-drawn carriage rides, marching bands, a community church service and performances of “Nutcracker: A Journey to Candyland” by the new Anaheim Ballet.
The performances will be at 3 and 8 p.m. Dec. 6 and 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at Freedman Forum. Tickets are $23 or $16 for adults and $18 or $9 for children, plus a service fee.
