S. Korea Postpones Visit to North by Nuclear Experts

SEOUL — South Korea on Sunday postponed a visit by nuclear experts to North Korea after the Communist state accused southern workers of defiling a newspaper carrying a picture of leader Kim Jong Il, officials said.
A 24-member team was to leave Tuesday to inspect the construction site in North Korea where two nuclear reactors are being built under a 1994 U.S.-brokered accord.
South Korean officials shelved the trip after the North halted construction on the reactors Wednesday to protest what it called intentional damage to a newspaper containing a picture of Kim.
“The visit will be postponed until the problem is resolved, and we don’t know when it will be,” a South Korean official said on condition of anonymity.
