The Westlake Village Baskin-Robbins and Realtors Ken and Barbie Heller joined in an effort to collect coats and sleeping bags from local residents to benefit the Conejo Valley Winter Shelter for the homeless.
The “Have a Heart” campaign collected more than 50 donations. Donors were offered free ice cream for their contributions.
The winter shelter is coordinated by Lutheran Social Services and is a joint effort between local churches and synagogues to provide food and shelter to the homeless in the Conejo Valley. Approximately 38 people sleep at the shelter, and an additional 30 receive dinner only.
The shelter operates during the winter, and meals are provided year-round.
