One Who Made It All the Way Back

I fail to see the point of dredging up Mackenzie Phillips’ felony drug-possession incident of 20 years ago (“It Was 20 Years Ago Today,” So SoCal, Nov. 23). You could have mentioned that she’s now six years clean and sober. Or how, even though she’s been to hell and back, she is once again a working actress and a full-time mother to her 10-year-old son.

It would have been beneficial to readers to add a footnote explaining that many people with alcohol and drug problems receive treatment and attain eventual recovery.
Now in the sixth year of my own sobriety, I want to let people know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
