Voigt Gives Royal a Big Lift, 54-30

Becca Voigt had 15 points and eight rebounds to help Royal High defeat Century, 54-30, in a first-round game of the Southern Section Division I-A girls’ basketball playoffs Saturday night at Royal.
Voigt, a 5-foot-9 senior, held Century’s 6-2 April Powell to four points.
“That was the difference in the game,” Royal Coach Mike Kohl said. “She did a great job shutting [Powell] down.”
Alicia Weber scored 12 points and Teresa Russell had seven points and 21 rebounds for Royal (24-3), the Marmonte League co-champion.
Royal senior Jessica Sanders did not start because she broke a team rule earlier in the week. She scored nine points.
In other Division I-A first-round games:
Mater Dei 63, Ventura 48--Mater Dei went on a 23-9 run in the second quarter and Ventura (16-8), which committed 28 turnovers, could never catch up in a game at Ventura.
Mater Dei (14-12) made 13 of 19 free throws.
Buena 79, Canyon 21--Kelly Greathouse had 15 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots, and Kelly Murray had 16 points, eight assists and eight steals for host Buena (24-2).
Westminster 62, Littlerock 41--Janet Glasby scored 17 points for host Westminster (21-4), which dominated the Lobos (14-11) with a stronger inside game.
Kristel Jones scored 18 for Littlerock.
I-AA
Crescenta Valley 73, Santa Monica 52--Michelle Greco scored 28 points and Sinnamonn Garrett scored 14 for host Crescenta Valley (23-2), ranked second in The Times’ regional poll.
Arroyo Grande 43, Simi Valley 28--Arroyo Grande (22-4) outrebounded visiting Simi Valley, 42-27. Jamie Sturdivant scored 10 points for Simi Valley (12-11), which trailed after three quarters, 36-16.
Peninsula 79, Glendale 36--Peninsula (26-2) scored several easy layups with a strong inside game at Peninsula.
Mania Houspian scored nine points and Alina Markari had six for Glendale (16-11), which trailed at halftime, 38-17.
III-A
Nordhoff 92, South El Monte 58--Erin Barker made 14 of 18 shots on her way to scoring a school-record 39 points for host Nordhoff (21-6).
Christen Roper and Nell Becker each scored 19 for fourth-seeded Nordhoff. Roper had eight rebounds and Becker had 10 assists.
Harvard-Westlake 82, San Marino 26--Corrie Roberts had 31 points, six assists and five steals, and L’Tanya Robnett and Erin Stephesen each scored 15 points for top-seeded Harvard-Westlake (23-5) at Harvard-Westlake.
Notre Dame 58, South Pasadena 49--Michelle Barraza scored 23 of her 25 points in the first three quarters for host Notre Dame.
IV-AA
St. Paul 55, Louisville 52--Teresa Delgado scored seven of her 19 points in the fourth quarter, but she missed a three-point shot at the buzzer for third-seeded Louisville (16-7) in a quarterfinal game at St. Paul.
Morro Bay 62, Paraclete 51--Third-seeded Paraclete (18-6), which trailed, 32-16, at halftime, made it close in the fourth quarter behind Kate Robinson, who made five of her seven three-point baskets in the final eight minutes at Morro Bay.
V-AA
Lone Pine 57, Oakwood 26--Stephanie Glucksman scored 16 points for Oakwood (11-12), which trailed after the first quarter, 23-4.
Campbell Hall 48, Aquinas 36--Emily Abrams had 12 points, nine rebounds and six steals for host Campbell Hall (13-9).
Santa Clara 55, Montclair Prep 34--Susanna Hallahan had 22 points for Santa Clara (12-11) at Montclair Prep.
Flintridge Prep 48, Mary Star 41--Lori Tashjian and Lizzie Parks each scored 11 points for host Flintridge Prep (10-9).

Cornerstone Christian 54, West Valley Christian 23--Julia Tamai had 22 points for fourth-seeded Cornerstone Christian at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
