Students from John Adams Middle School in South-Central Los Angeles exchanged their textbooks for paintbrushes Thursday as they created a mural in a school hallway as apart of a program run by the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team.
The Clippers’ TEAMup (program encourages schools to get involved with environmental and educational projects. The mural, titled “Get Into Those Books, the Cheese Stands Alone,” depicts President John Adams near a row of books and a dark hole with a piece of cheese inside at a distance.
“The mission of TEAMup is to positively influence young people by promoting a heightened interest in civic responsibility, academic learning and personal development,” said a Clippers’ spokeswoman.
