The Kiwanis Club of Santa Susana is organizing a “Build a Mile” fund-raiser to help victims of child abuse.
A meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarion Hotel at 1775 Madera Road in Simi Valley will focus on the particulars of the campaign.
Hoping to raise more than $10,000, the Kiwanis Club plans to sell paper bricks for $1 that will then be laid out over a mile-long strip at a site that has yet to be determined.
The money will be distributed to area agencies that work to help prevent child abuse and to treat its victims.
“It’s a worthy cause where everyone in the community can help,” said Jere Sinclair, organizer of the event. “All it will cost is a dollar.”
