So, some people in Riverside said that naming their mostly white high school after Martin Luther King would hinder, not help, their children’s chances for college, because their school would be perceived as mostly black (Jan. 6).
I wonder how many of these same people oppose affirmative action in college admissions because it allegedly gives minorities an “unfair preference” due to the color of their skin? Kudos to Riverside school board members for expressing true colorblindness in their choice of heroes.
