New Chapter Opens for Popular Bookstore

A popular bookstore that has catered to the South Bay literary crowd since 1966 has left its landmark Pier Avenue location.

The deteriorating condition of the old building, competition with larger book chains and lack of parking led to the move of the Either / Or Bookstore, officials said.

“We just couldn’t cope anymore with the building,” said Peter Pott, manager of the store off-and-on for nearly 30 years.

Other factors, such as increased rent, contributed to the move several blocks away on Aviation Boulevard, Pott said.
