Group Seeks 90 Students for AmeriCorps Jobs

Officials are looking for students to fill 90 AmeriCorps jobs offered through the nonprofit Building Up Los Angeles organization, it was announced Tuesday.
AmeriCorps offers an educational award that can be applied to past student loans or future college tuition in exchange for a year of community service.
Building Up Los Angeles is looking for people to serve as in-class and after-school tutors, mentors and coordinators for needy youths.
AmeriCorps pays a living allowance of $965 per month for full-time workers and $482.50 for part-time. At the end of a year of service, full-time workers receive an educational grant of $4,725 and half-time workers get $2,362.
