Subway Engine Rolls Over Man; He Survives

WASHINGTON — Subway service in parts of the region’s Metrorail system was interrupted briefly Saturday after a man became trapped beneath a train.
The unidentified man was taken to District of Columbia General Hospital for treatment of “nonlife-threatening” injuries after the early morning accident at the Potomac Avenue Metro Station in Southeast Washington, Metro system spokeswoman Leona Agouridis said.
The train operator braked soon enough to keep from hitting the man after he apparently fell, but the engine rolled over him as he lay between the rails, she said.
The station was closed for about 45 minutes.
