Westlake Takes Marmonte Tennis Title Again

Billy Corso and Matt Pardee of Westlake High each went 3-0 in singles play to help the Warriors to a 14-4 victory over Channel Islands in a Marmonte League boys’ tennis match Wednesday at Channel Islands.
The victory gave Westlake (15-0, 12-0 in league play) its second consecutive league title.
Corso defeated John Amezcua, 6-1, Paul Del Costillo, 7-5, and Chris Villarreal, 6-1.
Pardee defeated the same trio, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, for Westlake, the No. 1-ranked team in the Southern Section Division II poll.
In other boys’ tennis matches:
Agoura 9, Camarillo 9 (Agoura wins on games, 88-74)--The No. 2 doubles team of Tim Mullane and Greg McNamie won all three of their sets, winning in games, 18-1, to pace Agoura (11-3, 11-2) in a Marmonte League home match.
Simi Valley 10, Newbury Park 8--Jeremy Quilan was 3-0 in singles play for Simi Valley in the Marmonte League match at Newbury Park.
Teammates Jeremiah Waggoner and Scott Garzuzi also went 3-0 in doubles play for the Pioneers (12-7, 7-6).
Burbank 17, Valencia 1--No. 1 singles player Ben Martin, an exchange student from Germany, won three sets and Burbank (15-4, 9-0) clinched its 11th consecutive Foothill League title with the victory at Valencia.
Martin defeated Brandon Neal, 6-2, beat Jamie Neelon, 6-0, and beat Corey Moore, 6-0, to improve his league record to 27-0.
Calabasas 10, Malibu 8--The No. 2 doubles team of Braden Aftergood and Trevor Hinden defeated Nick Chang and Jim Cunningham in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), to seal the victory and clinch the Frontier League title for Calabasas (16-4, 8-0) in a match at Malibu (7-6, 4-2).
Brentwood 10, Campbell Hall 8--Seniors Josh Glass and James Chun swept their sets at No. 1 doubles for Campbell Hall (13-3, 5-2) in a Delphic League match at Brentwood (14-0, 7-0).
Glass and Chun have compiled a 101-5 record in two years.
Chaminade 9, Notre Dame 9 (Chaminade wins on games, 72-67)--No. 1 singles player Ted Hall and No. 2 singles player Mike Puntudit each won their three sets for Notre Dame (3-7-1, 3-6) in a Mission League home match.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Newbury Park d. Camarillo, 15-6, 15-7, 15-7--Mark Davis had 13 kills, six digs and four aces for the victorious Panthers (11-4, 10-3) in the Marmonte League match at Newbury Park.
Jon Enke had 11 kills for the Panthers.
Simi Valley d. Thousand Oaks, 15-9, 15-13, 13-15, 16-14--Oliver Bell had 25 kills and 19 digs and Ian Boys added 14 kills and 11 blocks for host Simi Valley (12-6, 8-5) in a Marmonte League match.
Kyle McGilvray contributed six kills, 11 digs and 12 blocks for Simi Valley.
Thousand Oaks (9-4, 9-4) is one game ahead of Simi Valley in the league standings.
