Anger at HMOs

Re the statement, “HMOs are only in it for the money,” letter, May 7: All businesses are in it for the money. That is our society. All of us who work do it for the money--or we wouldn’t work. And of course, that goes for doctors, too.
We are all so mad at the HMOs that we forget that the main reason there are HMOs is because doctors priced themselves out of the market of the average person. Would anyone want to go to an HMO that was not making money?
The pendulum has swung from one side to the other, instead of stopping in the middle. Unfortunately, we still need good medical care that we can afford, but where can we find it?
