SEASON AT A GLANCE: Carpenter, who finished second in two individual events at the Southern Section Division II finals last year, set Pacific League records in the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly two weeks ago. Last fall, he helped the Falcon water polo team to the Division III semifinals.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Carpenter led the Falcons to their first section title since 1993 by winning two events at the Division II finals. He clocked 49.47 seconds in the 100 butterfly, becoming the first male swimmer from the region to set a division record since John Jenkins of Crescenta Valley in 1993. Carpenter beat Ryan Parmenter of Hart and Joel Everman of Notre Dame in the 200 freestyle to win in 1:39.03.
