This article regarding the Port Hueneme Water Agency neglected to make one point. In the water plant that has been built, there are meters counting the amount of water sent to each customer. The customers are the city of Port Hueneme, the Channel Islands Beach Community District, the Navy at Port Hueneme and the Navy at Point Mugu.
Each customer will be charged for the amount of water each customer takes. Given this truth, can any of the customers believe they could be able to subsidize another customer’s costs?
Since each customer has all of this information and more, when statements are made such as, “It’s like we bought a ticket on the Titanic and we’re going to get on board knowing it’s going under,” I have to say, “Beam me up, Scotty.”
