As an advocate of business aviation, I am writing to express my support for a permanent, full-time customs official at Van Nuys Airport.
More than 80% of the companies on the Fortune 500 list operate business aircraft as a means of transportation. We are fortunate to have such an extensive presence of quality business operators utilizing Van Nuys Airport for their access into the Southern California market.
As we become part of a more international economy, the role of Van Nuys Airport becomes more crucial to the San Fernando Valley. A permanent customs official will allow our business leaders the ability to avoid the cumbersome process of traveling through Los Angeles International Airport. This streamlining process can decrease the amount of negative noise and air quality impacts over the entire Southern California region without increasing the traffic coming into Van Nuys Airport.
The city of Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley should extend their hands to the businesses and corporations doing business through Van Nuys by supporting a full-time customs agent at the airport.
